I have often wondered that for many fans of football, the real draw is not what happens on Friday, Saturday, or Sunday; it’s getting to talk about the game afterwards. Monday-morning Quarterbacking: looking back at all that took place and sharing it with others.
There is something to be said for reflecting on what we have read, or sung, or heard, especially after Sunday morning worship. What are the things that stick with you? What truths do you need to remember and believe this week? What will change?
Here are my top three from this past Sunday:
- I find myself realizing just how un-gentle I can be with those I am most comfortable with. I needed to hear yesterday that there is not only grace for me, but grace to change me
. I need a softer heart that is made gentle by the good news of the Gospel and the work of the Holy Spirit.
there is not only grace for me, but grace to change me
- I believe that we can be a unique witness in our communities by being both extraordinarily good listeners who also don’t compromise the truth of Scripture.
- I am constantly amazed at God’s kindness. During communion it struck me, even as I was saying the words, how unbelievably merciful God was to the Corinthian church (with ALL their problems) and yet He still called her His church! It’s good news for messes like me the redeeming power of Christ.
BONUS: People like to hear stories about porcupines, apparently!

Starting this Fall, we are going to be looking at the Gospel of Mark, where we will see the coming of King Jesus, his authority, his sacrifice, and those around him who misunderstood his mission. The Gospel of Mark is a call to discipleship, begging the question of any reader, “Who do you say He is?”. Join us every Wednesday for singing, fun, and a study as a church family!
There are currently three small groups. Here’s when they meet (could change depending on holidays, etc). Contact Pastor Michael if you’d like to join one /want to know where they are meeting, or if you know the hosts, contact them directly.
Moore/Mahan Group: 5:30-7:30pm on the 1st and 3rd Sunday of every month
Larson Group: 5:00-7:00pm on the 1st and 3rd Sunday of every month
Colvard Group: 4:30-6:30pm every other week (starting 9/18)
Harbor Church welcomes the women of Harbor and the broader community of Mooresville to join us for an inductive Bible study of the book of Ephesians this fall. We will meet on Tuesday mornings from 9:30 – 11:00 in the classroom at the top of the stairs. Our study guide for this session is Keri Folmar’s book Grace: A Bible Study on Ephesians for Women. We have a few extra copies available if you join us for our first meeting date Sept. 13. This study will run through November 29, and childcare is provided. If you have any questions or would like more information, please contact Tracie Aldridge at tracieNC@gmail.com or call (859) 325 – 0195. We look forward to seeing you there!
Men’s Group meets every 3rd Saturday at 7:30am (for food) or show up at 8am just for the discussion. This Fall we are going to be doing a study loosely based on Voddie Baucham’s book Family Shepherds (no need to buy the book). This study is for those who have a family with kids, no kids, grandkids, or are kids themselves (teenagers). Together we’ll grow in how to shepherd those we are responsible for in a gospel-centered way. Come join us!
